Sewing...

Hi everyone!
I have never had any sewing lessons and I barely practice sewing, but today I was inspired by the fantastic blog, Journal of Two Dolls (If you don't go to their blog already, you really should, they have awesome posts!:)) to try my hand at some pants!:)
Here they are!
I'm actually shocked I could even make this good of pants, I thought that I wouldn't even be able to make anything at all.;)
They are green pants with little leaves and flowers as the pattern.:) The pants took me a couple hours to make, since I don't know how to run a sewing machine yet (but I really hope to learn!) and that meant I had to hand stitch everything.;)
The pants are a little low for comfort and I had a hard time finding a shirt that would cover her body.:) Maybe I should make a shirt next that will fit!;)
I really like them and hope that the stitching will be strong enough to last for a while.:)
I can tell Sophie isn't that big of a fan (they really are too flashy to be her style) but I know she is too nice to say that.;)
***
So how do you like the pants?:) I really am happy that they aren't a disaster, even if they do have a droopy butt!;P

Do you have any sewing tips that you would like to share with me?:)

  1. Those are really a good and cute try of hand-sewn pants. I hand-sewed two dresses and one pair of pants. My sewing tip would be learn how to use a machine. It makes the job soo much easier!

  3. Those pants look really good! Did you use a pants pattern from somewhere, or did you make up your own pattern?
I bet you could learn to use a sewing machine really easily if your mom shows you. It's not too hard. :)

    1. Thank you! No, I just winged it!;) That's why the waist is too low!;P Yeah, I really want to learn, but I have to set out some time that my mom can teach me, which is pretty hard to do!;)

  4. Awesome pants! We're so glad that we could inspire you... and thanks for the shout-out! :) Did you have a pattern? If so, that's great. If not, that's AMAZING! Pants are tricky things, especially when you don't have a lot of sewing practice. Nice work!

    1. Aw! Thanks guys! I was sort of frustrated when I was making them, I was confused and I was really hoping I didn't make a mistake! The nice thing about hand stitching is that you can take out the stitches if you did make a mistake.;) Thanks again!

  6. I think you did a great job! Sophie is cute in them. :) Using a sewing machine really isn't that hard. Once you can use it, you can sew really fast! I made 2 doll outfits in a day one time! :D

  9. Pixie Faire has a $19 sewing course. I took it and it was really helpful because it's all about sewing doll clothes.
